MAKAR POPOV - DEATH LOOP ("Dying is useful, Loop")
How much did the Idea change from your initial game design form during the development of your game jam in Gamemaker Studio?
The basic idea of the game went through several changes throughout the week, as I continually evaluated and refined the plans. Initially, I had a clear concept for the game, but as I delved deeper into the design and development process, I then realized that certain elements were not working as well as I had hoped. As a result, had to make a few adjustments to the gameplay mechanics, story, and overall design. For example, I had originally planned for the game to have a more of a highly designed scenes, but later decided to focus on the gameplay aspect. I also had to make difficult decisions about cutting content that was not working, in order to stay on schedule. In the end, the game turned out to be very different from the original plan, but I was somewhat pleased with the final product and felt that all of the changes had resulted in a better overall experience for the player.
During the development of the game, I had originally planned to include different spikes for different doors for death is useful. However, as I began to implement the spikes, I encountered a number of errors and issues that made it difficult to use in the game. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to resolve these problems, and ultimately had problems for the gameplay.
What resources did you use in the development of your game and how useful did you find them?
GameMaker Manual (yoyogames.com)
I used the Gamemaker manual so i know what each part of the code does what.
Which areas of your game's development did you find the most challenging during the development of this game?
Balancing gameplay mechanics: Ensuring that the game is challenging but not too difficult, and that different elements of the game work well together.
Designing a cohesive level: Creating a believable and immersive level that is consistent and makes sense to the player.
Managing scope: Deciding what features and content to include in the game, and what to cut, in order to stay on schedule.
Dealing with bugs and technical issues: Identifying and fixing any issues that arise during development, such as bugs or performance problems.
Death loop, would face other challenges such as creating a loop that is not frustrating for the player, creating a believable time-loop mechanics, and balancing the difficulty of the game while the player is replaying the same events over and over.
In your own assessment how well did you incorporate the theme into the final game that you have created?
It was pretty well done, however you are unable to play the game properly and has multiple bugs and problems within the game.
