Deconstructing an Indie Game

For deconstructing an indie game, I have chosen Broforce. This is the gameplay trailer for Broforce when it was released on the PlayStation 4.

For Part A I will talk about the theme and graphic style of the game.

The genre of the game is Run and gun which is a fast-paced game without needing heavy defense mechanisms or plays. As it is also a full-of-action platformer which focuses on action orientated gameplay. Broforce is also 2D so you can only go in 2 directions instead of 4. Furthermore, the game can both be single player and multiplayer depending on the game mode that you play.

The next is about the story and characters which only has Americans and enemies where the Americans must kill all the enemies and not die whilst saving prisoners on the way. You can play with up to 4 players in one game which makes the game easier to complete. To finish the game, you must kill the boss at the end which then brings in a helicopter and you must jump on the ladder that they chuck to complete the game. New Heroes are constantly added every month. They all have different weapons and abilities.

The Graphic Style in the game is unique as all weapons have different effects through the ammunition and the model itself. When you use weapons, everything becomes destructible including the ground and vehicles. To continue to my next point which is chain reactions which shows that if one bomb explodes it can explode other bombs which can then destroy the whole map. Each character is limited to 1-5 ammunition for their special abilities which are all unique and do different amounts of damage and can-do random things.
